B&E Hobart Run The Bridge
In 2010, B&E announced a major new sponsorship initiative, signing up as the naming-rights sponsor for the inaugural Hobart Run the Bridge Fun Run. Since then the event has gone from strength to strength and in 2012 attracted more than 2,100 participants from all sections of the local community, including elite runners, joggers, walkers and people of all ages and fitness levels.
An iconic course ... the Hobart Run the Bridge course takes in some of Hobart's most notable landmarks starting at Bellerive Oval, travelling through Bellerive and Clarence, then across the Tasman Bridge and finishing right in the heart of Hobart at Salamanca.
At B&E, we believe that an iconic event such as this can improve the overall wellbeing of the local community. An integral part in using this event to aid the community was the appointment of Variety Tasmania as the official event charity. Athletes are able to create their own fundraising page to raise much needed funds for Variety - to date more than $15,000 has been raised.

2012 race wrap up: Shelley and Weightman set new course records
On Sunday 12 February, more than 2100 early risers took part in the annual event, which continues to grow in popularity.
Commonwealth Games marathon medalists Michael Shelley and Lisa Weightman set new course records on their way to victory. Shelley set the record of 29 minutes 18 seconds for the 10km journey. The scenic course was also a hit for Olympian Lisa Weightman. Melbourne based Weightman stopped the clock at 33 minutes 14 seconds to break last year's course record held by Anna Thompson.
Weightman said of her performance "I'm over the moon to break the course record, but I just love coming to fun runs and being part of the running community." Weightman, who is also the Running Australia Ambassador was all praise for the event.
